Wings Around Me

You wrap your wings around me,
I know your spirit’s free.
Watching me from up above,
I’ll never forget your love.
You’d grown old,
But now you’re walking those streets of gold.
The tears fall from my eyes,
But I’m caught by surprise.
I can feel your wings,
And hear the songs they sing.
I know you’re in a better place,
When I’m wrapped in your embrace.
Near the end you didn’t know my name,
But you loved me all the same.
I’ve learned Heaven isn’t so far away,
And that I’ll see you again someday.
Until that day I’ll be wrapped in your wings,
With all the memories that they bring.

The Desire within Us

Sights on the sky,
It is do or die.
I’m coming out on top,
I’m never gonna stop.
I know the stakes,
And I’ll do whatever it takes.
Fight through the pain,
I’ve got everything to gain.
Learning from my past,
I gotta hold fast,
To this dream,
Even if I’m swimming upstream.
No, I won’t give in,
Digging deep down within.
To my deepest desire,
Let that fuel my fire.
My body may go numb,
But look how far I’ve come.
No, I’ll never quit,
Doesn’t matter how hard I get hit.
I may stumble and fall,
Barely able to crawl.
But I’m gonna keep moving,
Only improving.
I’m gonna reach my goal,
I know it in my heart and soul.
I’ve only got one chance,
I’m gonna advance.
If you tell me it’s impossible,
I’ll show you it’s possible.
No matter how much blood, sweat, or tears,
Or if it takes years.
I’m gonna succeed,
That’s guaranteed.
So now I’m letting out my battle cry,
I’ll keep pushing till the day I die.

But enough about me,
Can’t you see?
We were all meant to shine,
You don’t gotta wait in line.
Set out on a mission,
Chase your ambition.
If someone says you’ll never make it,
You must commit.
Prepare for impact,
You’re gonna be attacked.
But don’t quit,
Stick with it.
And your scars will tell a story,
Of your battle to glory.
But don’t give up the fight,
Push through day and night.
Cause when you pick yourself up of the ground,
You’re ready for the next round.
You’ll be stronger,
And you can hang on longer.
Yeah, it’s gonna be tough.
Don’t be afraid to get rough.
Life doesn’t give you handouts,
You gotta stand out.
You’re race can be won,
But you gotta start your run.
No one’s gonna do it for you,
As you already knew.
So get out there,
And declare.
They can try and rip you apart,
But they don’t know your heart.
They don’t know what you’re made of,
They’re gonna see you can rise above.
Face your fears,
Until they disappear.
If you wanna win,
You’re gonna have search deep down within.
So what are you waiting for?
Open the door.
Face the extremes
And start to chase your dreams.

Always Remember

We will always remember,
The 11th of September.
From the ashes we rise,
And those deafening cries.
Standing stronger than before,
We've picked ourselves up of the floor.
You left us with a scar,
But you don't know who we are.
We are the Red, White, and Blue,
And we came after you.
You thought you could hide,
Well at least you tried.
We pressed ahead,
Now your blood was shed.
Here's a bit of advice,
You should have thought twice.
Maybe used your head,
Oh well, now you're dead.

Sirens in the Air

Siren here, siren there,
Fill the polluted city air.
Gun shots like distant thunder,
Really makes me wonder.
Are we really going under?
A city full of pain,
People say it has nothing to gain.
Everyday someone loses hope,
Sliding down the slope.
They turn to crime,
In this hard time.
Yet those trying to stand,
Have nothing in hand.
Gunned down,
In the middle of town.
Just trying to make a change,
They became the firing range.
Falling to the ground,
Blood all around.
Police in a shootout,
It’s without a doubt.
The body count in rising,
The population despising.
Innocent blood is shed,
With the hot flying lead.
Sirens all around,
But I can’t hear a sound…

Through the Years

I was young and didn’t care,
Though I could feel the humidity in the air.
The stars were out,
Running around with a shout.
Catching the lightning bugs,
Placing them in glass mugs.
Go inside we didn’t dare,
The night breeze messing with my hair.

A few years go by,
Yet I’m still a little guy.
My back is on the ground,
I’m listening to the sound.
The croaking of frogs,
With the barking of dogs.
The smell of the grass,
And the sky’s color contrast.

Now almost a teenager,
Still nothing major.
Just hanging with my friends,
Camping out setting our own trends.
All gathered around the fire,
Our laughter growing higher.
Watching the flames dance,
Like it had us in a trance.
As we made our way to the tent,
We talked about things to invent.
Always seemed to be a bit wired,
But it turned out we were just tired.

Now as a teen,
I wasn’t into that popular scene.
I went my own way,
I began to pray.
I learned life is rough,
But it makes you tough.
Learning what is worth the fight,
And if it doesn’t work out it’s still alright.

Now I am almost twenty,
And my scars are plenty.
I’m learning how to live,
It’s not always easy to forgive.
I’ve found my true friends,
I know will be there till the end.
Learning how to take a chance,
Not afraid to advance.
Yelling out my battle cry,
Knowing I can reach the sky.

I may still be young,
But I am not dumb.
I’ve grown up,
I’m not the wild wolf pup.
But I’ll chase my heart,
Even if it’s ripped apart.
Cause nothing comes easy,
I may get queasy.
But I won’t give in,
Part of me says I can still win.

I Am Just A Man

I am just a man... A man who is bound to make mistakes and do stupid things. I don't have life all figured out and I certainly do not have all the answers... I am just a man... One man out of all the other men in the world. I may not stand out in the crowd. I may not even be anyone special. You may never know my name or see my face again... I am just a man... I have nothing to prove. I have nothing special to offer. I am merely just one in a billion… I am just a man… I will fall short of your expectations almost every time. I am not the best at what I do. I will fail and pay the price… I am just a man… I do not know what works and what does not. I am learning, but not there yet… I am just a man… I have not done anything significant, but I know my calling. I have God on my side. That makes me dangerous, mysterious, courageous, spontaneous, and most importantly myself... But without God... I am just a man...

Heaven's Soldiers

Charging the gates of Hell,
Seems so much easier in a fairytale.
Do not let your mind lead you astray,
We are an army that is here to stay.
I promise we will make it through,
Cause God himself will be there too.
So we join together to build a stone wall,
It will be built so that is will not fall.
As we stand our ground,
The lost will be found.
So let this be our battle cry,
As we praise the Lord on high!
Satan will be caught off guard,
As we lay it on him hard.
So will you join me as we sing?
Satan is vanquished and Jesus is king!
We will not go silent into the night,
Cause we have just won the fight.
Standing here shoulder to shoulder,
We make up Heaven’s soldiers.
